Update for Cannabis Industry between November 17th and November 21st.
BfArM is a German federal institute for drugs and medical devices. They essentially regulate drugs in Germany, such as approving drugs, regulating and managing drug risks/safety for the German government.
Germany (BfArM) has published earlier this month quarterly results of cannabis import, which is for Q3 2025. In third quarter, Germany has imported over 56,915 kg of dried Flower, compared to 47,706 kg in second quarter, that is an increase of 19.30%. If we look at last years numbers, in Q3 2024, they have only imported 20,654 kg. This means that German market is growing at enormous pace. For Extracts, there is no updates yet, only data from 2023 is available.
We can clearly see that Canada (Kanada) is leading in import of dried flowers into the country (went from 33,155 kg to 66,237 kg YoY) and the second leading country is Portugal (went from 17,230 kg to 42,076 kg). Denmark was a distant third with only 7,244 kg of cannabis imported into the country.
There are also statistics about exports, but they are really small. I do not think it is worth noting as exports are under 2,000 kg QoQ.
It is also worth noting that BfArM initially had a maximum quantity of cannabis for medical and scientific purposes imports set to 122,000 kg which was reached this month. They have adjusted it and increased the cap to 192,500 kg on October after a pause in new imports announced in September.
It is also important to note that in September, High Tide has acquired a 51% stock interest in Remexian Pharma GmbH which is a German Cannabis importer and wholesaler.
Statistics Canada have released a report "Monthly retail trade sales by province and territory" which states that for month of September, sales were down to 474,974,000 from 503,090,000 back in August. We can only see that Ontario, which is the sales driver, is lower than expected as it is lower than back in September 2024. Mostly all other provinces stayed higher than last Septembers sales. It is also a good takeaway that August is the peak sales year for the Cannabis industry.
Mera Cannabis Corporation (A Canadian company) has been found non-compliant with EU-GMP standards as they soruce cannabis from non-GMP facilities. So they have been "Banned" from importing products into EU until it passes a new inspection.
SQDC will begin selling Cannabis Vapes starting on November 26, 2026.
According to Geneviève Giroux, Vaping has grown at a high paste in the past few years and now vaping represents 28% of Quebec consumers.
Currently, according to Quebec Statistics, people over 15 yo have consumed cannabis through several ways and most popular one is through smoking. There is still a limit however of 30% THC that must be met for all cannabis products. Additionally, no flavors can be added to these products.
In Ontario for example, Cannabis Vape Pens have increased over 21.6% YoY.
