Week 3

Update for Cannabis Industry between December 1st and December 5th.

Sensi Brands have acquired Maricann which is based in Ontario. Their annual production capacity is 110,000 kg of EU-GMP certified cannabis dried flower, which allows them to sell cannabis in the European market. For Sensi Brands it is a great deal as it would allow them to no more rely on 3rd party to certify their cannabis anymore and sell almost freely internationally.

Aurora Cannabis has formed a distribution partnership with Leafio (Australia's medical cannabis wholesaler) which would allow them to distribute Aurora's medical cannabis over 4,000 pharmacies.

It is also worth noting that in 2024 Australia has imported over 62,111 kg of cannabis from Canada which represents 80% of total cannabis imports.

As per my recent posts, Germany has been booming in cannabis import in the past few quarters (would recommend checking week 1 for more information) and High Tide has noticed it. They have acquired Remexian Pharma GmbH in Germany which is a licensed medical cannabis importer and distributor in Germany. Now, with one foot in, High Tide have opened their first retail store in Germany under Canna Cabana.

With their first store in Germany, High Tide has placed another bet on Germany as the next important player in cannabis industry which would allow them to establish early reputation in German market. I believe that it is a really good hedge for High Tide given their importance in Canadian and overall cannabis market. Also, expanding vertically would allow them to secure better margins just like other retailers that were doing: Four 20 Pharma which is majority-owned by Curaleaf.

As a side note, High Tide is planning to open three new locations in Canada: Calgary, London and Brampton.

Quick stats that came out on December 2nd from Health Canada.

Exports of cannabis in March 2025 reached 31,134 kg, an increase of nearly 124% compared to March 2024, when exports totaled 13,909 kg. Based on last year’s data, April 2024 exports were 8,055 kg, we can likely expect a dip in April 2025 as well.
