Update for Cannabis Industry between December 8th and December 12th.
On December 9th, Cronos Group which currently has a Market Cap of 1.25B have entered into a purchase agreement to acquire CanAdelaar Group for €57.5 million (92.6 million CAD$) which is one of the then cannabis growers in Netherlands. Also, extra cash payments may be made in 2026 and 2027 based on half 0.5x of CanAdelaar’s normalized EBITDA in those years.
CanAdelaar currently has a cultivation yield of 20,000 KG of dried flower annually and is the only industrial-scale greenhouse cultivator in the Wietexperiment. "Wietexperiment" is like a program that was created by Dutch government in 2022 to explore the cannabis market by allowing 10 companies to sell cannabis in coffeeshops. Accoridng to StratCann CanAdelaar has 65.43M CAD$ in revenue this year (2025).
Cannabis use is highest among young adults and men, lowest among older adults, and after rising from 2018 to 2021 has largely stabilized by 2025.This can mean a few things, but I believe that this mainly says that Cannabis industry is approaching its maturity in British Colombia. This is probably because in 2021 there was a big wave of new users trying the product out since 2018, so it may also not mean that it reached it maturity. Another thing that could explain it is the aging of BC population, in other words the so called "Youngsters" are getting into older brackets where use tends to naturally decline which is pulling overall rates down- You can interpret it your way.
In short: Growth slowed because most potential users are already in the market and demographic factors now favor stability over expansion.
Also a fun fact: Users consume cannabis mainly for enjoyment and physical pain relief reasons.
There are other important information about why people acquire the product and where they go to- but I am not going to put it here as it is not what I write these reports for.
OCS or Ontario Cannabis Store has recalled 4,659 units that were sold from September 19 to December 4, 2025 this is due to dislabelled THC level where JC Green was showing higher THC levels than what the product actually was.
Another fun fact: Manitoba does not allow suppliers to provide samples to retailers.
Trump announced that he will ease the federal restrictions on marijuana which is really good news for American Cannabis companies. By reclassifying marijuana it would put cannabis at a lower tier of dangerous drug from my understanding- let's see when that goes into effect!
