Week 8

Update for Cannabis Industry between January 5th and January 9th.

SNDL has announced on January 7th that it started to acquire stores from 1CM. The deal was initially signed in December and only now SNDL started to take over a few stores. 5 stores were taken under control located in Alberta and Saskatchewan - 27 more to go later in 2026. The purchase price of all 35 stores is of 32.2M $CAD. Currently almost 70% of SNDL's growth comes from Ontario same-store sales and to support that growth it does make sense to get more stores under the wing.

Wyld has announced the acquisition of cannabis edibles company Grön. Both companies are located in Oregon (United States) where Wyld is available across 16 US States and Canada while Grön currently has 75 products available across 9 US states and Canada. Currently the Edibles market is at around 4.8B $USD, which makes me believe that the piece of cake is relatively small to make such acquisitions, but edibles has a very promising future which makes this a bit of a debatable topic. I will be following this transaction to get more news about valuation metrics.

Simply Solventless Concentrates has announced the appointment of Charles Vennat (ex-ceo at Greentone) to its board of directors. I believe that this strategic move underlines the fact that Simply is currently trying to fix their liquidity issue.
